Colours Awards Programme

All Edwardians are expected to make a positive difference every day by living out the five College keys; being proud, joining in, working hard, growing in faith and treating people well; in all aspects of College life, both within and outside the timetabled lessons.

St Edward’s offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities to complement the academic curriculum and provide pupils with experiences and opportunities beyond the formal classroom. Through participation in extra-curricular activities, pupils will find an interest, explore a passion, make a commitment, strive to achieve excellence and most importantly, an awareness of how to be selfless and put others first.

Extra-Curricular activities are an integral and essential part of an all-round holistic education, where we recognise that individuals flourish in a supportive environment in which all their abilities and talents are acknowledged and encouraged. Pupils have the opportunity to shape the extra-curricular programme through the College Council (pupil voice) and pupils and students (Key Stage 4 and 5) taking leading roles in running extra-curricular activities for younger pupils. Collectively, these significantly enhance pupils’ educational and intellectual development, and provide opportunities for leadership, personal development and ultimately the challenge of life in the 21st century.

We seek to recognise pupil commitment to extra-curricular activities through a newly designed Colours Programme, launching in Advent term 2021, in which outstanding contribution is recognised through the Colours system; with certificates, badges, ties, celebration events and trips awarded for Colours, across all sections of the College; KS3, KS4 and the Sixth Form.

College Colours are awarded for pupil commitment and for meeting the criteria in each of the six categories below:

  • Academic
  • Sport
  • Music
  • Creative
  • Service
  • Principal's Award
