Orchestras

The College boasts a varying number of orchestras and ensembles to which many of our musical pupils and students can belong:

Chamber Orchestra

Chamber Orchestra is one of the College’s flagship instrumental ensembles. It is almost entirely made up of pupils in the Upper School and generally plays repertoire for smaller scale orchestral ensembles. The Orchestra performs at a number of concerts throughout the year.

College Wind Quintet

The College Wind Quintet is a new instrumental group which gives the most able instrumental players the opportunity to perform in this popular instrumental ensemble. Members benefit from weekly coaching and perform regularly.

Flute Choir

Flute Choir is a new instrumental group for flautists in the Lower School. It is designed to accommodate the College’s many flute players and to give them the opportunity to develop skills in chamber performance.

Guitar Club

Guitar Club meets on a Monday after school. It welcomes both electric and acoustic guitar players. The repertoire is mainly modern and includes popular classics by artists like The Beatles, Oasis, Journey and Green Day. Players of all standards are welcome to join.

Junior Orchestra

Junior Orchestra is a popular instrumental group for pupils in Lower School and performs at a number of concerts throughout the year. They rehearse once a week and have played repertoire which includes Soul Bossa Nova and I Dreamed a Dream.

Brass Ensemble

The group is made up of brass players of Grade 5 and above and a kit drummer. They play music from the Baroque era right up to the present day. They have performed at venues including the Metropolitan Cathedral, St George’s Hall and the Town Hall.
