Cricket

Cricket at St Edward's continues to flourish in an era when there is far less cricket being played in schools. The College has five teams that play their games in the Trinity term with most teams starting their training towards the end of the Lent term.

Pupils of all abilities are welcome to attend training during the week. Training for most teams takes place after school once per week. Pupils learn the fundamentals of the sport, with a large focus on participation and fair play instilled into each squad. The College has improving links with local clubs and many boys who start playing cricket at St Edward's are introduced to local clubs and represent the city.

Each team is coached by two members of staff and play approximately six to eight games per season. Each team enters the Liverpool Schools Cup where the College traditionally achieves great success, and they can also enter the Lancashire Cup. In 2015 and 2016 all teams reached the semi-finals of the City Cup whilst we have had city champions in 2014, 2013 and 2012.

Cricket at St Edward's is an ideal opportunity for the boys to learn new skills, develop new friendship groups and represent the College during Trinity term.
