CLARE

Clare was introduced as a name of a House/Form in 1995. It was chosen in recognition of the Christian Brothers’ College residence, St Clare. The Brothers lived at St Clare from 1938 until the late 1990s before it was converted to a Sixth Form centre.

DOMINGO

Domingo is one of the original names chosen when the House system was established in 1932 named after the principal quarters of Liverpool with which the Christian Brothers have been associated. It refers to the location of the College from 1920-1938 when it was situated on St Domingo Road, Everton which was named after the Isle of San Domingo visited by Liverpool privateers.

HOPE

Hope is one of the original names when the House system was established in 1932. It refers to the location of the Catholic Institute (the original name of the school) on Hope Street from 1853-1919.

MERSEY

Mersey is another one of the original names chosen when the House system was established in 1932. Mersey referred to Mersey Street, the location of the old Pupil Teachers’ Centre and to the River Mersey.

RICE

Rice was introduced as a name of a House/Form in the late 1990s. It was chosen in recognition of Blessed Edmund Rice, the founder of our school who established the Catholic Institute alongside Father James Nugent in 1853.

SEFTON

Sefton is another one of the original names chosen when the House system was established in 1932. It was named after the borough of Sefton where the Catholic Institute, Crosby (now St Mary’s College) was established by the Brothers in 1919.
